In August of this year, we had our friend and Photographer, Troy Provencal https://abunchofpictures.com/ take some photos of our dancers in Tynehead Regional Park. This was such a fun day and can’t wait to do it again soon!

After hours of patching, sanding, demo, cleaning, painting, and re-organizing it’s finally done and ready for classes this week!
Summer 2018
We had an absolute blast this summer! Our travels included Bellingham Highland Games, BC Highland Games, Penticton Scottish Festival, Kamloops, Seattle, Skagit Valley Highland Games, and the Saanich Fair to close it off. We also enjoyed a fun afternoon at our year end party, everyone had some time off, and we are back in plaid, ready to get the 2018/19 year started!
On Saturday, May 19th of the Victoria Day long weekend, some of our dancers came to represent our studio in the Rodeo Parade! We had perfect weather, so much fun handing out candy, stickers, and waving to the hundreds of smiling, future Thistlebrook dancers in the crowd. After the parade and over the Rodeo Weekend, a lot of our dancers enjoyed the fair, great food, and entertainment. Highland Dancers have fun too, and we are so excited for the outdoor games to start!
January
Robbie Burns! We had several performances across the lower mainland, and always enjoy this busy time of year. Our biggest performance was at the Delta Police Dinner. Two sold out nights, the DPD Pipe band, and a lot of fun backstage with our dancers.
February
We started our strengthening and conditioning classes, had some gorgeous Valentine’s Day themed dance outfits at practice, and two competitions.
The first championship of our year was held at the Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, WA, and what a day it was! Everyone danced beautifully, and Cooper even came away with 1st place in the Hornpipe!
March
We had two more competitions this month, both of which turned out beautifully as always! Mackenzie, Alex, and Brooklyn continued to bring home the medals at BCHDA, then Alex & Rylee took off to Kamloops on yet another successful weekend!
April
The BC Open Championship & Competition was quite the day! We had first time competitors, dancers in separate locations for the Championship and Restricted Premier (which led to quite the workout running back and forth), and took home a pile of medals.
We are all practicing hard for the FVHDA Open on the 28th… can’t wait to see everyone!
These are often our busiest months, filled with competitions, exams, new steps, our studio Christmas Tea, and holiday performances. It can get a little crazy around the studio, (rather, Miss Meghan get’s a little crazy), but we always manage to make it through with a whole pile of laughs and more memories to last a lifetime!
October through December are also about the time big improvements start to take off, with the pressure on! Most of our beginnner and novice dancers earned their stamps and moved up categories, and all of the dancers improved immensely on timing, technique, and turnout.
Our second annual Christmas Tea went extremely well, with an abundance of help from: Christine Pike, Logan Pike, Zaighum Punzalan, Chad Tamis, Dylann Herron, Danielle Lavoie, Jennifer Street, Kay Warcup, Christina McIldoon, and ALL the parents and backstage helpers of Thistlebrook Academy.
We also had numerous giftbaskets and door prizes, generously donated by:
Port Kells Nurseries, Thistlebrook Academy, Scot’s Landing Fish & Chips, Tupperware, Party-Lite, Kay Warcup, Christine Pike, The Hossack Family, and several other companies and families.
A huge thank you to everyone! Each of you help make this Annual Event possible each year. We are so greatful for your support!
